Museum Of Kerala History

The Museum of Kerala History was founded in 1984 by the Madhavan Nayar Foundation as a part of the Kerala Museum, along with the Gallery of Contemporary Indian Art & The Centre for Visual Art. Considered as an integral part of any Kochi tour package, the Museum of Kerala History provides a show to the visitors about the ancient history of Kerala with the thirty-eight life-sized tableaus. A period of over 2000 years has been recorded carefully in this museum.

Apart from the museum, there is also a collection of books on historical topics and mainly related to art, literature, and culture of ancient Kerala.

Description

The Museum of Kerala History is also known as Kerala Charithra Museum, and it is situated in Ernakulam in Kerala. The state of Kerala has been considered to be created by the mythical legend Parasurama, and a statue of him is located in the museum as well. The main aim of creating this Museum of Kerala History was to pay homage to the history makers and founders of the state. For the delight of the audiences, sound and light shows are organized. These shows state the various periods of history in Malayalam and English commentaries. KOCHI TOURISM is incomplete without visiting the Museum of Kerala History.

Folklore depiction

The famous episodes of history, all from the Neolithic Age to the Modern Age, are depicted perfectly in the museum with the help of real-life figures and demonstrations. All this makes this museum one of the best places to visit in Kochi.

The reason why Museum of Kerala History is one of the top Kochi tourist places is that the workshops, art shows, and the excellent performances that are hosted on the Amphitheatre of the museum attract a lot of visitors all over the year. There is a three-day annual fest in the museum, and the audiences are housed at the Amphitheatre situated outdoors, having a capacity of four hundred spectators.
