Raja Rajeshwari Temple - Chottanikkara

In the Southern part of India, mainly in the state of Kerala, there are multiple temples based on the Hindu mythologies and devoted to the Gods. People from all over the country, and within the state, especially the local people from Kochi also come to attain spiritual peace in these temples. One such most famous places to visit in Kochi is the Raja Rajeshwari Temple. It is mainly a part of the Chottanikkara Bhagawathy Temple, which has two main temples; the Melekkavu and the Keezkkavu. This Melekkavu temple is Raja Rajeshwari temple, also known as the Chottanikkara Amma. The Keezkkavu is mainly associated with Bhadrakali.

The reason why the Raja Rajeshwari Temple is one of the most popular Kochi tourist places is because of the divine powers that are associated with the temple. When it comes to attaining spiritual peace and miraculous healing, the Raja Rajeshwari Temple of the Chottanikkara Bhagawathy Temple is on the top.

Puja Ceremonies

In the Kochi tour package, the Raja Rajeshwari Temple takes an entire day. This is because of the variety of Puja ceremonies. In the morning, Raja Rajeshwari is worshipped in the form of Saraswati, the Goddess of learning. At noon, Raja Rajeshwari is worshipped in the form of Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. In the evening, Raja Rajeshwari is worshipped as Parvati, the Goddess of power. In the morning, the deity is seen in a white sari, while the rest of the day sees the deity draped in adornments and silks. The Amme Narayana Badre Narayana chants are heard throughout the temple walls.

Festivals

The festivals of Navarathri Aghosham, Thiruvonam, Makom Thozhal, Ramayana Masam, and Vrishchika Mandala Mahotsavam are the main attractions of this temple, and a significant part of the Kochi tourism.

Dress Code

In the temple, men need to take off the shirts. Women have to wear either a saree or a salwar suit.
