About Kuruva Island

Kalpetta is located 26 kilometers away and Mananthavady is merely 13 kilometers from this island. Popularly known as Kuruvadweep, the island features as a prominent destination among Wayanad Tourist places. Bird watching is an activity that most indulge in. Migratory birds are spotted easily. Trees like bamboo are found in plenty. Orchids and herb population of this island draw a major share of travelers. It is one of the prime attraction in Wayanad tour package. The island has two freshwater lakes. This cluster of tiny islands that forms the Kuruva Island covers about 950 acres of land and is not inhabited. Visitors to this island can spot bamboo bridges that look unique. Bamboo rafts are used to reach the island. Kerala Tourism Department operates rafting.

Rafting

Navigating the streams on bamboo rafts is something that is not available anywhere else. It’s an interesting way to reach the island and is the main highlight of this spot.

Kuruva Island timings

The island opens for visitors at 9 AM and remains open till 4 PM. However, one can visit this island only between October to May as it closes during Monsoon. 

Kuruva Island ticket price

The ticket rates are fixed at Rs. 80 for Indian Adults, Rs. 55 for a child, Rs. 150 for foreigners, Rs. 10 for boating, Rs. 300 for bamboo rafting (6 people) and Rs. 50 for the camera.
