About Lakkidi
Lodged on top of Thamarassery Ghat Pass, Lakkidi is Wayanad’s highest point. Its frequently visited by nature lovers. Situated 16 kilometers away from Kalpetta, it is a tiny hill station with a height of 700 meters. The hill station is bedecked with a number of sightseeing places out of which the Lakkidi Viewpoint is one of the most popular. From the vantage point, visitors can enjoy an uninterrupted view of the gorgeous vistas around. One of the most enticing aspects of visiting Lakkidi is its thrilling terrains that comprise of sharp 9 hairpin bends. Passing through these bends offers a great adrenaline rush to all.
Legend of Lakkidi
There is a mythological story associated with one of Lakkidi’s most famous Chain Tree. The large Ficus Tree is bound by a chain, and according to local belief, a British engineer once took the help of a tribal young man called Karinthandan in forming a passageway through the dense woods of Wayanad. But, once his need was met, he killed the tribal man. From that day, the spirit of the young man is said to haunt the travelers that pass this way. A priest was called upon who performed rites and chained the spirit to the tree. It is one of the prime attraction in Wayanad tour package.

Pookode Lake
The lake is a charmer among all of Wayanad tourist places and of Lakkidi. Its closely located at a mere distance of 3 kilometers and is a natural marvel. The gorgeous mountain slopes encapsulating the lake are the main highlights.
Palappuram
A quaint little town tucked 5 kilometers from Lakkidi, Palappuram offers visitors a chance to get one with Mother Nature. It is visited mainly for its holy shrines like Mariamman, Chinakkathoor, and Someshwaram Temples.
Padur
The village of Padur is an attractive spot for pilgrims that wish to see the famous Sree Panichnar Temple.
What else?
Historically rich, Lakkidi is also famous for its historical town of Vaniyamkulam. The town was ruled by Chera Dynasty and was a major trading point.
