Gopalji Temple Sakhigopal is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites for the worshippers of Lord Krishna. Gopalji Temple Sakhigopal is located in Puri, Odisha. Many devotees from all over the world come to seek blessings in this temple. It is one of the places to visit in Puri.

History of Gopalji Temple Sakhigopal

The famous Gopalji Temple was established during the rule of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. King Prataprudra was a great ruler of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. There is a story that once upon a time, the king discovered that an idol of lord Krishna was buried inside the ground. Later, he led to the establishment of the famous Gopalji Temple Sakhigopal.

Later on, different dynasties came to rule the place. They all led to different types of reconstruction and rework work inside the temple. 
There is a very famous Ratha Yatra festival that happens in Puri. During that festival, the devotees come to this temple to seek blessings from Gopalji. 

The architecture of the Temple

A very famous Pidha Deula Style is followed inside the temple. The temple has a mandapa or assembly hall. This mandapa has been used for different types of gatherings and ceremonies. On the whole mandapa, you will see different types of sculptures and paintings.

The stone carvings that are done on the temple's walls depict different scenes from lord Krishna's life. Here, you will see childhood pranks of lord Krishna, mythical creatures, and a lot more.
