Puri Beach festival

The Puri Beach Festival is held every year in the month of November. The first-ever Puri Beach festival dates back to October 29 1993. Late Shri Biju Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, with Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Minister of Tourism, inaugurated It. The main purpose of this festival is to celebrate the arts, crafts, culture, cuisine and tourism potential of the state on a single platform and to attract world attention indeed.

The motive of this festival is also to further promote Odisha in and outside the country. All age groups can enjoy this festival which consists of activities like Regatta boat or yacht races, food festivals, rock concerts, beach parties, fashion shows etc. The festival also holds traditional beach sports like Volleyball, Kabaddi and Pole Gymnastics. Shopping at this festival is also quite an experience, where people can carry home artefacts and souvenirs like shell jewels and many other items.

Puri Beach at Night

As graceful as Puri Beach is in the morning, it is even more so in the nighttime. People can spend time walking on the beach on well-lit beach roads. The beach has an exceptional crowd on full moon days as the Golden beach looks absolutely magnificent. In the evenings, the 'Sea Aarti' takes place, which one can enjoy.

The cherry on the top is its market which is open throughout the day and night indeed. There is hardly any item that one cannot find in this market in terms of handloom, shell crafts, idols etc. This market is also a place where you can enjoy many of the food delicacies, like that various types of fish, crabs, prawns and shellfish, which sellers constantly prepare in the live kitchens and sell on the Puri Beach. With too many people roaming around the place, the Puri Police ensures the safety of all tourists and citizens. Inquiring tents are also present so that nobody gets lost in the midst of any big crowds, ensuring further security at night times.
