About Devipattinam Navagraha

This wonderful village is built in the honour of the Indian mythological Devi Durga. This fact in itself makes this village extremely special. The village is named for the ancient temples named Thilakeshwar in respect of the Hindu Lords Shiva Parvathi called by their Southern names Thilakeswarar and Soundaryanayaki. It is surely a prime site to be visited when it comes to the places to visit in Rameshwaram and especially under Rameshwaram tourism.

Major attractions

Legends

The mythological legends believe that the extremely powerful Hindu Goddess Durga slew the evil devil Mahishasura right in this renowned village of Rameshwaram making it a significant part of the list of best places to visit in Rameshwaram and a prime inclusion in Rameshwaram Packages.

Specifications

What makes the site extremely fascinating is that the precious nine gems placed here under the sea are visible even today. Not just Lord Rama devotees but archaeological experts, art lovers and the lovers of vintage things and gems are thrilled by the thought of visiting here and witnessing the ancient sacred beauty for themselves. However, there are still chances that the level of seawater might affect the visibility of the gems. The sea is a great site in itself with innumerable shells and things full of colourful distinct shaped shells.

Belief

Another great belief that serves as the wonderful attraction of the village is that the Hindu Lord Rama placed nine precious shining rare stones here in order to pray to the nine planets or grahas. This process has a great significance in Hindu Mythology because the prime reason for it was to seek the blessings of the entire Universe before clashing with the gifted demon Ravana. Lord Rama ended up beating Ravana in the ultimate clash which provides a unique stature to this site as a result of which the devotees of Lord Rama come here in maddening numbers every year.

Devipattinam tourist places

This charming coastal village is home to several other tourist places like Amman Temple, Muniya Temple, Kalanikudi Lake and Lingeshwarar Temple. Visitors must not give a miss to these places.

All these spectacular specifications including the Mythological legends and the ancient beauties make it one among the best places to visit in Rameshwaram and a must-visit place under Rameshwaram tourism. Don’t miss this wonderful site on your next visit to the State.
