View detailsRameshwaram Overview
The beautiful island of Rameshwaram is in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is split from Sri Lanka by the small Pamban waterway. Hindu story says that this is where Lord Rama built a bridge over the sea to get to Sri Lanka. The first sea bridge in Rameshwaram links the town of Mandapam to Pamban Island and then to Rameswaram. On Pamban Island, there is also the abandoned town of Dhanushkodi. A storm destroyed this busy town in 1964.
One of the most important PLACES TO VISIT IN RAMESHWARAM is Agniteertham. It is one of the 64 sacred baths in the region and draws many people every day. Agniteertham is the only Theertham not inside the temple building, located on the beach side of Sri Ramanathaswamy temple. Visitors come to this holy site to pray and wash away their sins by bathing in the sacred waters.

Almost all devotees go there. The Devipattinam temple links to Lord Rama. A lot of stories are told about this old temple.
Dhanush Kodi is a small beach town on the coast of Tamil Nadu, and few people live there. Bangladesh was hit by one of the worst storms India had ever seen in 1964. That is when Tamil Nadu fixed up the town and made it into one of India's most interesting and unique beach towns. This small-town change redefines solitude. This town has not changed from the outside over time, making it a unique PLACE TO VISIT IN RAMESHWARAM.
Some groups in southern India worship Gandhamadhana Parvatham as their god, and they honour the important temple of Gandhamadhana. The temple is very big, with two floors. The chakra in the temple has Lord Rama's feet carved into it. Both believers and tourists want to go to this holy place and pray at the feet of Lord Ram. When it comes to history, it is one of the most important places, often included in a RAMESHWARAM TOUR PACKAGE.
It is one of the most popular spots on the Island of Rameshwaram, and its coral reefs make it stand out. Dolphins and sea cows diving easily in the Gulf of Mannar are a beautiful sight for tourists who come to the island. There are many beautiful natural things in this little haven in the Gulf of Mannar, making it a must-see PLACE TO VISIT IN RAMESHWARAM.
Another interesting place in Rameshwaram that you should see on a RAMESHWARAM TOUR PACKAGE is the Pamban Bridge. In India, they built this as the first sea bridge. Artificial rock forms this bridge, which takes the shape of an arch. It is 2.3 km long for the road bridge and 2.6 km long for the rail bridge. The construction includes about 64 pillars in the water, with another 43 on land to support the structure. Additionally, people consider the Pamban train bridge the longest. In 2007, Indian Railways made this bridge better for handling wide gauge trains.
