The well-known Sikh shrine Hemkund Sahib is in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district. It is one of the 508 major Sikh pilgrimages and is famous as Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib. Located close to the Valley of Flowers, this area is one of the most picturesque place to visit in Badrinath and a well-liked trekking destination in Uttarakhand.
The Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib is a shrine to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. It is at an elevation of 4329 meters, and the seven peaks of snow-capped mountains surround Gurudwara.
Sikhs and Hindus attend this gurudwara, the highest in the world. It's thought that Guru Gobind Singh spent significant time in meditation at this location. The location must be in your BADRINATH TOUR PACKAGE.
History of Hemkund Sahib
According to Hindu legend, Rishi Medhasa of the Markandeya Purana and Lord Rama's younger brother Lakshman took devotion here.
Major General Harkirat Singh of the Indian Army founded this gurudwara and worked on it beginning in the middle of the 1960s. Concrete and white marble make up this star-shaped Gurudwara.
It is near the immaculate Hemkund Lake. The lake is two kilometers long, and its calm, clear waters reflect the surrounding Saptashrungi Peaks. Around the gurdwara is a small temple devoted to Lord Rama's brother, Lakshman.
Hemkund Trek
Situated 13 miles from Govind Ghat, Ghangaria is a picturesque village that serves as the final human settlement before reaching Hemkund Sahib. The base for viewing Hemkund is Ghangaria, a long walk along a well-kept trail from Govind Ghat.
Pilgrims can walk or ride a pony along this road, where a Gurdwara provides shelter. A few motels and a campground with tents and mattresses are also present. An Indian airline operates a helicopter service between Govind Ghat and Ghangaria.
There is a brutal rise of 5 km from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib. Hemkund Sahib does not permit overnight stays; thus, to return to Govind Ghat by dusk, you must go by 2:00 PM. The famed Valley of Flowers, which is 5 km long, is about a 3-kilometer journey from Ghangaria.
