Kedarnath is a Hindu holy town in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district. It is one of the Himalayan Char Dhams. The town is at 3584 meters above sea level close to Mandakini river.

Lord Shiva is the guardian and the destroyer according to the belief. He is particularly well-known since Kedar means "powerful and strong." The temple's atmosphere is highly uplifting and serene, making it an ideal location for meditation.  The Kedarnath temple is the town's primary attraction. A prominent Hindu shrine and pilgrimage that draws people from all over the world. The natural beauty and the religious attraction makes it one of the perfect tourism destinations throughout the world.

Thousands of travelers come to Kedarnath all around the year. It is among the beautiful snow-capped Garhwal Himalayan hills. It is famous as one of the finest places to visit in Kedarnath

Kedarnath history

According to the Mahabharata, the Pandavas built the Kedarnath Temple to satisfy Lord Shiva with their penance. When the renowned Hindu scholar Adi Shankaracharya visited the Temple with his four followers in the 8th century CE, he rejuvenated it. Unfortunately, the Temple was swept away by the 2013 floods, which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people.

Activities at Kedarnath

•    Kedarnath is at an elevation of 3,500 meters. Every year, hundreds of pilgrims make a grueling trip to the town, one of the most revered Hindu sanctuaries. During the winter, the Temple lies beneath a thick blanket of snow.
•    The Kedarnath temple is 19 kilometers from Gaurikund, the nearest settlement with road access. As a result, one must trek 16 kilometers to the Kedarnath shrine, making for an unforgettable trekking experience. Travelers can also extend their hikes from the town to Chorabari Tal, Vasuki Tal, and Bhairon Mandir.
•    Because there is little accommodation in town, tourists and pilgrims can pitch tents near the town and take in the natural beauty surrounding it and the towering peak in the background.

The best time to visit

April to June are ideal for the KEDARNATH TOUR PACKAGE, with nice weather and easy access for pilgrims and visitors alike. During this time, the temperature ranges from 5°C to 20°C, the snow melts, and devotees can visit the famous Temple.

Due to snowfall in the region, Kedarnath remains closed for six months each year, from November to March (the dates are notified each year). After November, the region suffered considerable snowfall, making travel difficult and dangerous.
