Chorabari Tal is a lovely natural lake about 3 kilometers from Kedarnath. Chorabari Tal is another name for Gandhi Sarovar. The Chorabari Tal is at the terminus of the glacier Chorabari Bamak. It is a little lake with clear, natural water. It provides breathtaking views of the neighboring snow-capped Himalayan peaks. 

It is reported that following Mahatma Gandhi's death in 1948, the ashes of his bones were immersed here, giving rise to the name Gandhi Sarovar. According to legend, Lord Shiva teaches yoga to the Saptrshis here. This Tal's journey begins in Kedarnath. It is simple to walk over meadows. 

Chorabari Tal Glacier 

The massive Chorabari Glacier, also known as the Chorabari Bamak Glacier, is located in Uttarakhand's Garhwal Himalayas. The glacier is close to Kedarnath temple, one of the most important temples for Hindus. 

The major source for the Alaknanda river is one of the glacier’s.  The second snout flows into Chorabari Tal at 3,835 meters (12,582 ft) above sea level.

The trek of the Chorabari glacier is popular among the experienced and professional trekkers, also the nature lovers. Sonprayag is the starting point for the walk to this magnificent glacier. Once you reach the summit, you get the most beautiful and stunning views of snow on the Himalayas.

Chorabari Tal Trek

Gandhi Sarovar provides visitors with breathtaking vistas of the Himalayan ranges. Because the weather in this location varies quickly, it is best to visit Gandhi Sarovar early in the morning. 

The 14-kilometer hike from Gaurikund to Kedarnath passes through pristine deodar, oak forest, and beautiful waterfalls. The 3km journey begins at Kedarnath's iron bridge and concludes at Gandhi Sarovar. 

More than half of the route to Gandhi Sarovar is well-paved. En route to Chorabari Tal, there is a magnificent waterfall. While visiting Gandhi Sarovar, cleanse your soul by visiting Lord Shiva's hallowed temple at Kedarnath. No booths or tea shops are on the road, so bring your supplies. 

The best time to visit
