One of the most famous hill towns, Mussoorie, is in Uttarakhand's Dehradun district and approximately 290 kilometers from Delhi. Standing at an elevation of 7000 feet above sea level, Mussoorie. The Shivalik range of the Himalayas and the Doon Valley surround the town. It is quite popular as Queen of Hills. Formerly known as the summer capital of Britain, the town enjoys a consistently cool and pleasant atmosphere.

This colonial hill station has several attractions to draw travelers. History of Mussoorie 

The term "Mansoor," which refers to a prevalent shrub in the area, is the source of the name "Mussoorie." Under the influence of Umer Singh Thapa, the Gurkhas fortified the area in 1803. Gurkhas took Mussoorie's boundary as well into their domain. Because the East India Company dominated the provinces at the time, fighting broke out in 1814.

They took control of the Saharanpur district and included it in their kingdom until 1819. Around the same period, British soldiers discovered Dehradun as a vacation destination. The location was a secret, but only when rumors began to circulate, and British officers learned about it. Mussoorie gained popularity as a top summer vacation spot in 1827.

Weather

Traveling to Mussoorie is most enjoyable from April through June. Experience the busiest time of year because of the lovely weather. It provides a great break from the intense summer heat. Visitors hoping to witness snowfall in the winter months should make a trip to the city. The monsoon season, which runs from August to September, brings with it considerable rainfall to this area.
