Prag Mahal Museum is a 19th-century royal palace located near the Aina Mahal in Bhuj, Gujarat, India. It is one of Bhuj's magnificent palaces and one of the most popular destinations to see during your Bhuj tour package.

The beautiful palace is imposing and gorgeous in its own right, composed primarily of red sandstone. The walls include elaborate carvings with wonderful art. Still, the most astounding thing is the jaali work on the jharokhas, which is magnificent in look.

The palace's architecture is in the Gothic style, with Italian marble and sandstone from Rajasthan. The main hall is full of decaying taxidermy, while the Durbar hall features chandeliers and classical sculptures. Corinthian pillars surround the majestic palace.

The Prag Mahal is the largest palace among the three palaces of the Darbargadh walled complex since the 19th century. It has been damaged since the earthquake. What is the history of Prag Mahal Bhuj?

Prag Mahal takes its name from the popular King Rao Pragmalji II. The construction began in 1865 and ended in 1879. Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins created the magnificent Mahal in the Italian Gothic style and was commissioned by Rao Pragmalji II. 

Many more Italian artists volunteered to help with the Mahal's construction. In addition to Colonel Wilkins, the local Kutchi builder community contributed to the construction of Prag Mahal, for the workers who took part in building the royal fort got gold coins as payment.

The palace came into existence under King Pragmalji in the 1860s. Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins gave inspiration for the design, which is in the Italian Gothic style.
