Tapkeshwari Temple is a Hindu temple in Gujarat, south of Bhuj. The temple is one of the must among the places to visit in Bhuj. Dedicated to the Goddess Tapkeshwari, the temple is in a valley with hills.

The temple is very old and essential for the local people. It is also important for the people outside the country. According to mythology, the goddess is the avatar of Shakti, representing feminine power.

History of Tapkeshwari Temple

The temple got its name from the Gujarati word "tapakvu, " meaning" "to drop". According to the belief, this location forces water to drop from the cliff during spring. No spring is present today.

There are so many large and underground caves on the hill. Visitors must first ascend steep steps to reach the caves from the temple. Visitors can see the beautiful views of the city and the nearby areas from the top of the hill. 

The best time to visit

Tapkeshwari Temple is best to visit during the winter months of October through February. During this season, the weather in Bhuj is nice and comfortable, making it excellent for exploring the temple and the surrounding high countryside. 

Aside from the favourable weather, winter also corresponds with various Hindu festivals, which may allow tourists to experience the temple's ceremonies and celebrations fully. Maha Shivratri is a main event, and people celebrate it with great zeal here, usually in late February or early March.
