Golok Dham Tirth is a sacred shrine in Somnath located on the banks of the Hiran River. It is also known as Dehotsarg Tirth and is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Gujarat. It is also one of the most popular places to visit in Somnath.

Baldev Gufa, an old cave, is also nearby. According to folklore, Baldevji, Shri Krishna's elder brother, also took his final trip from here in his original serpent form. 'Dauji-ni Gufa' is another name for this cave. Nearby attractions include Gita Mandir and Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.

History

Dehotsarg is thought to be the location where Bhagvan Shri Krishna embarked on his holy pilgrimage to Neejdham. According to mythology, after being wounded by a hunter's arrow, Lord Krishna went a few km from Bhalka Tirth to Dehotsarg.

He took bath in the Triveni Sangam before burying his body at Dehotsarg. Shri Krishna Neej Dham Prasthan Teerth or Dehotsarg Tirth is the name given to this location. The sacred memory of Shree Krishna Neejdham Prasthan Leela is honoured by the carving of Bhagvan Shree Krishna's footprint.

The Teerth is sometimes referred to as Dehotsarg Teerth. A collection of temples beautifully aligned on the banks of Triveni Sangam at the confluence of the magical Saraswathi, Hiran, and Kabila rivers may be found here. The setting is peaceful and pleasant, surrounded by trees and vegetation. Because this temple is not as popular as Somnath, devotees can worship in peace and quiet.

Best time to visit

Because the winters are fairly harsh, September to March are the best months to visit Somnath. If you want to avoid the crowds and visitors that swarm to Somnath, you may want to visit during the summer and monsoon seasons.

Somnath is exceedingly hot and humid throughout these seasons, and it is best visited during the winter months when the weather is more tolerable. However, the temple is worth including in the Somnath tour package.
