Baba Budangiri History
The Baba Budangiri in the Baba Budan Range is one of the most attractive places to visit in Chikmagalur. It is located in the Western Ghats, and towards the northern part of the Chikmagalur district. Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar, the famous Sufi saint who was popularly known as Baba Budan, had his shrine in the Baba Budangiri Mountain. The Chikmagalur tour package contains the Dattagiri Hill Range, which is another name for the Baba Budan Range. Both Muslims and Hindus regard this place as a holy spot. This is because the Hindu God Guru Dattatreya is also believed to have his shrine located here.
Baba Budangiri height
The highest mountain peak that lies here is a significant part of Chikmagalur tourism, and it has a height between the Nilgiris and the Himalayas. Chandra Drona Parvatha was the previous name of Baba Budangiri. The tallest mountain in this range includes the Mullayanagari, with 6317 ft or 1930 m altitude. The second one on the list is Baba Budangiri, with altitude equaling 1895 m. These mountain ranges together form a crescent-shaped moon. A unique flower named Kurinji blooms once in 12 years here, which is a major tourist attraction.
As for the things to do in Chikmagalur, the Baba Budangiri hills are famous for trekking and hiking. For adventure enthusiasts, nothing is better than following the trekking trail between two mountains. The most famous trekking trail is the one from Baba Budangiri to Mullayanagari, which spreads over 12 km. the other trails include the 4 km long Budangiri to Gaalikere, 7 km long Budangiri to Manikyadhara Falls, and the 6 km long Attigudi Junction to Baba Budangiri. Another of the major Chikmagalur tourist places is the old Deviramma Betta shrine.
Baba Budangiri Coffee
Baba Budangiri is also known for its famous coffee. It is said that the first coffee in the country was developed in this place back in the year 1670 AD.
