Sinnar

Sinnar and its municipality are located in the Sinnar taluka in the Nashik state of Maharashtra. The Sri Gondeshwar Temple and the Gargoti Museum are the two major things that are well known about Sinnar. It is one of the most popular places to visit in Nashik.

Why is Sinnar famous?

Sinnar is well-known for its historical importance, especially its link to the Maratha Empire. People know it for the Saptashrungi Temple, a very important religious place, and for its good farming land that grows crops like onions and grapes. The town has become an essential place in Maharashtra and is now home to the Sinnar Fort. It has also become a necessary center for industry. History of Sinnar

The Gondeshwar Temple is about 2 km from Sinnar Bus Station. It is the best example of a building in the Hemadpanti style. Black basalt stone and lime, which were easy to find in the area, were used to build the structure. 

The temple was built between the 12th and 13th centuries during the Yadav era. A few sources say that Raj Govinda of the Yadava family built this huge temple. Another story says that the house belonged to Govindaraja, who was a Yadava king who ruled around the start of the 1100s AD.

Architecture of Sinnar

A Shaiva Panchayatan or five temples in a huge enclosure. The central temple honors Shiva, while the others honor Parvati, Sri Ganapathi, Surya Bhagwan, and Vishnu. It is the largest, most complete, and best-preserved Indo-Aryan Deccan medieval temple.

The temple's stone carvings and sculptures depict Puranas, Mahabharata, and Ramayana themes, which are stunning. The complex comprises Gods, Goddesses, Apsaras, Yakshas, Kinnaras, and Gandharvas sculptures. The wonderfully proportioned Shiva temple has a sabha mandapa assembly hall and a gabhara ceiling that enshrines the Shivlinga.

The entry to the central shrine has three majestic pillared porches. Beautiful stone sculptures and shikhara distinguish this Indo-Aryan temple from others. Lord Vishnu's temple's tiny, exquisite pillared hall is one of the best in the region. Nandi pavilions with stone bulls front the main entrance.

Best Time to Visit

Between October and March, when the weather is nice and warm, is the best time to visit Sinnar. People who come during this time can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and look around the cities many old temples and monuments.
