Sita Gufa

Sita Gumpha, also written as Sita Gufa, is in the Panchavati area of Nashik, close to the Kalaram Temple. Among the many places to visit in Nashik, this is among the most significant.

History of the Gufa

Another name for Sita Gufa is Sita Gufa. She is an important character in the great story of Hinduism called the Ramayana. The mythical tale says that Sita, Lord Rama's wife from the Ramayana, lived here. After living fourteen years in the jungle, Rama settled down in Panchavati, now in Nashik, Maharashtra. A story says this is where the evil king of Lanka, Ravana, took Sita from her cave.
