Ana Sagar Lake history:
The pleasing Ana Sagar Lake is named after Anaji Chauhan, grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan. It was built between 1135-1150 AD. King Anaji Chauhan built this lake for the betterment of civilization. Arnoraja built Ana Sagar Lake by raising a dam across the Lavanavari River. The community further helped in building catchments for the purpose of fishing.
A Mughal sovereign, Jehangir, built the Daulat Bagh garden, which surrounds the lake. There is a circuit house at the top of the hill in the vicinity of the lake, which served as a British residency. The government has prohibited all catchments at the lake in order to maintain the splendor of the lake.
