Foy Sagar Lake

Named after a British engineer Mr. Foy, Lake Sagar is amongst the PLACES TO VISIT IN AJMER, which attracts a large number of tourists. It is an artificial lake and is located near Ajmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan. This lake was built under a famine relief project in the year 1892. The water is spread over 14,000,000 sq. ft or 1,300,000 m?2;. The original capacity of this lake was 15 million cubic feet. At the time when the construction of this lake was going on, people used to call Ajmer Ajmere (we know this by the inscription installed at the lake). The best time to visit Lake Foy Sagar is just after the monsoon when the level of water rises, and the lake looks even more beautiful than it already is.
