The architecturally rich Jain Temple, also known as Soniji ki Nasiyan is located in Ajmer in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The temple is quite famous amongst tourists and locals for its exceptional architecture. Amongst the other PLACES TO VISIT IN AJMER, this Jain Temple is definitely worthy of a visit. There is the main chamber which is made of 1000 kilograms of gold. It is also called Swarna Nagri, which translates to 'City of gold.' The Soni family of Ajmer built and owned the temple indeed.
Soniji ki Nasiyan belongs to Rishabha or Adinatha. The construction of this temple was just a small matter of time with red sandstone, while the finishing took twenty years, that is, from 1870-to 1895. It has a three-dimensional replica of the story of Rishabha in accordance with the old manuscript by Acharya Jinasena. It occurred to Seth Moolchand Soni, born in 1830, to have this three-dimensional structure built for education purposes. But, sadly, his death prevented him from seeing his own ambitious idea take shape as a complete structure. Many Jain temples depict a figurative representation of the 'Pancha Kalyanak' in the life of every Tirthankara; conception, birth, renunciation, enlightenment, and salvation or moksha.
Soniji ki Nasiyan history:
This famous temple belongs to Rishabhdev, the first of the 24 tirthankaras, and the construction happens under the regime of Moolchand and Nemichand Soni of the Soni family. The Soni family laid the foundation on 10th October 1964, and the image installation of Rishabhdev occurred just after a year in 1865. As the temple consisted of red sandstone, people also called it the 'Red temple.'
