Located within the vast expanse of the Thar Desert, Khuri Jaisalmer provides for an amazing Desert Safari experience. A tour of this place is often included in various JAISALMER TOURISM PACKAGES and therefore this place must be on the list of places to visit in Jaisalmer, of people who are eager to explore the golden hued sandy dune experience here. Khuri offers a picturesque view of the Thar desert land and would not disappoint you.

Khuri Jaisalmer significance and activities:

When we think of a desert, the first few pictures that often pop up in our minds are of the majestic golden sand dunes and camels. Khuri Jaisalmer is one such place which will replicate the exact scenario for you.

Khuri Jaisalmer provides you with various desert camping activities as well. With the help of a proper guide, visitors can easily set up camp here and experience the traditional life of the locals. Camping here at night and star gazing feels almost like a dream. While camping, one can listen to the songs of ‘Kalbeliyas’. The Kalbeliyas are the local snake charming tribes of Thar Desert, Rajasthan who are nomadic in nature. Their main occupation is that of catching snakes and trading snake venom. Since the Wildlife Act of 1972, they have been forced to leave their main occupation and resort into making a living out of what were earlier leisure activities for them : dancing and singing. Members often work in fields and indulge in cattle grazing during off seasons when tourism activities are limited. However, the songs and dances of this tribe are a very lively and cheerful affair and would definitely entertain you. A classic experience of Rajasthan and the Thar Desert is incomplete without meeting this tribe at all.

The camel safari rides in Khuri Jaisalmer would take you through the village to get a close view of thatched roof houses and narrow streets. There are many local and colourful bazaars that sell many items that would interest all visitors. Souvenirs can also be purchased from this place.
