It is almost impossible to imagine Rajasthan without its architectural prowess in terms of majestic Forts and glamorous Havelis or palaces. Nathmalji Ki Haveli is one such ‘haveli’ and is definitely one of the most beautiful palaces to be seen in the city of Jaisalmer. This haveli is mostly included in JAISALMER TOURISM PACKAGES.
This palace was built long back in the 19th century as a residential place for Diwan Mohata Nathwal, the then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. The Palace was built under the commission of King Maharawal Beri Sal and the famous Muslim architects involved in the construction were Hathi and Lulu. It is often said that both the architects started working on the construction of this haveli from opposite sides, which is why it can be observed that both the sides of the haveli are not exactly identical. The architectural pattern of this Haveli is an amalgamation of Muslim and Rajputana style. Made out of yellow sandstone, the haveli is truly a masterpiece. The entrance of the haveli features two life – sized elephants on both sides. The interior of Nathmalji Ki Haveli features many beautiful paintings and strikingly modern features like fans etc. While visiting Jaisalmer, you should definitely add this marvellous palace to your list of places to visit in Jaisalmer.
