Pambar Falls
Yet another lovely place to experience the charming Kodaikanal weather is the stunning Pambar Falls. Another moniker for this fall is Liril Falls. Nestled just 4 kilometers from Kodai’s bus station, this stunning waterfall attracts hoards of visitors every day. It is a breathtaking spot where water pours down majestically over rocky steps, and hence the moniker ‘Grand Cascade’ Falls. The Pambar Waterfalls ranks among the must-visit destinations in Kodaikanal.
Pambar Falls forms at the confluence of the frothy waters of Kodaikanal’s water reservoir and Vaigai River. In order to reach it, you have to take the pathway that’s made behind Pambar House. The pathway is quite slippery. Hence be careful while treading through it.
Most people recognize this waterfall easily as it was here that the famous advertisement for the soap brand Liril was filmed. Remember the Liril girl from the 1985 ad? Well, Preity Zinta too took a dip in this falls’ stunning waters! Tourists coming here would fall in love with the lushness around as well as the small tub like a pool that forms at the bottom of the waterfall. This is perfect for taking a bath. Hoards of tourists flock to this point, especially during summers.
Trekkers would find this place amazing for trekking along the lush green 80-mile road nestled closely to the waterfall. The trail offers nature enthusiasts and walkers an opportunity to interact with nature’s bounties and spend some quality time alone. Treks are conducted twice in a day, morning and noontime, and cover a distance of 16 kilometers. You can cover the trek in 2 hours' time. Both professionals, as well as novice trekkers, can undertake the trek as the difficulty level is moderate.
Points to note:
