About Elephant Stables
In any Hampi Tour Package, you will always get the mention of the Elephant Stables. This stable structure was constructed during the times of the Vijayanagara Empire. The main aim of this structure was to be the home for the royal elephants. The Zenana Enclosure is just near the Elephant Stables, and the place is one of the major attractions of Hampi tourism.
The Vijayanagara Empire started falling off towards the year 1565 AD, and it was followed by a massive attack of the Mughals. The place somehow survived the attack and destruction and is one of the rare tourist spots in Hampi which is quite unharmed.
The architecture of Elephant Stables

The style is mainly Indo-Islamic, and there are not many structures that come in this unique architectural blend. The building is quite large and is mainly built in the shape of a rectangle. It is said that each of the chambers were so built that two fully grown elephants could be easily accommodated in them.
