Narasimha is one of the incarnations from the ten forms of Lord Vishnu. Narasimha as per the local people stands for half man and half lion form. The Lakshmi Narasimha statue is the largest in the town of Hampi. It is seen sitting on Sesha, a giant seven-headed snake. The head of the snake acts as a protection hood above his head. Narasimha is sitting in a cross-legged position. His knees are supported by a belt. Due to the expression of his face, he is also called Ugra Narasimha, Narashima in his furious form.

The original statue was damaged partially during a raid. The image of Goddess Lakshmi is not visible clearly in the statue.
