The amazing Malyavanata Raghunatha Temple is solely dedicated to one of the incarnations of Lord Rama knows as Lord Raghunatha, hence the name of the temple. History of Malyavanata Raghunatha Temple

Malyavanata Raghunatha Temple holds a legendary mythological story behind the origination of the place. According to the legend, Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana were searching for a roof as it was raining heavily. Lord Rama aimed an arrow towards the Malyavanata Hill and a split was a caused on the top of the boulder in the Hill. 

After that, Lord Rama, his brother, Hanuman and their army stayed under the shelter till Monsoon rains passed away. Thereafter they continued their journey to search Sita to Lanka. The mythological interest pulls lots of Hindu people to this place in Hampi tourism.

Architectures of Malyavanata Raghunatha Temple

The Temple is built surrounding a huge boulder. The boulder is visible on the top of the temple protruding as a tower to the temple complex. There are images, sculptures, and scripts carved on the walls of the temple depicting scenes of Lord Rama and his brother during their Monsoon visit. 

One of the famous scenes is where Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana is sitting, Sita is standing next to her honorable husband, Lord Rama, and Hanuman is kneeling towards them, showcasing patriotism and respect towards them. The architectural build around a single massive boulder makes it one of the significant places to visit in Hampi.

The Temple is open all days in a year. The doors open at 07:00 AM and close at 07:00 PM. It’s advisable to visit during the winter months to enjoy pleasant weather.
