About Hazra Rama Temple
Hazara Rama Temple is a holy place in Hampi. It is a Hindu temple where Lord Rama is worshipped. The temple is in the center of the royal arena. Previously the temple was a private property of the kings and royal families of Vijayanagar. The temple is quite famous among Hampi tourism for its beautiful structure, old relics, and depiction of the story of Ramayana.

History of the Hazara Rama temple
Built during the 15th century by Devaraya II, king of Vijayanagar, it is a simple yet attractive structure. The temple initially had a pillared hall and ardha mantapa. The temple was renovated later adding more to its beauty.
Stone chariot at Hazara Rama temple
The Stone chariot was built in dedication to Garuda, the escort of Lord Vishnu. This stone chariot has its name among the top 3 stone chariots of India. This is one of the best places to visit in Hampi. The stone chariot was built in the 16th century by King Krishnadevaraya in the Dravidian style of architecture. The King had built this temple after coming back from a war in Odisha where he was inspired by the Konark Sun Temple Chariot. The chariot is perfectly made with top-notch finishing. It is known to be a world heritage site. UNESCO has also recognized it to be one.
Best time to visit Hazara Rama Temple
The best time for visiting the Temple is from the month of November to February.
The interior part of the temple is beautifully built with sculptures of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita. Lord Vishnu’s pictures are also carved inside the temple. Two huge gateways lead to the main temple. There is a huge lawn on the northern side of the film. The walls of the temple tell many tales of the old days.
