The Legend

Popularly known as the sacred Sita Mata lake is the holy Devikulam. The legend doing rounds about the site is that the Hindu goddess Sita Mata who is one of the most worshipped goddesses took bath in the waters of Devikulam. Hence, the calm waters are considered to be holy ever since she graced it by her presence. This is the reason why the lake is known as the 'Kulam' of Devi which means the Pond of Goddess. Devotees and worshippers come from all over the nation to touch the holy waters as it is also believed to cure people of several illnesses by the virtue of its sacred powers and mineral properties.

1. Weather - Placed at an altitude of over Eighteen hundred metres, the lovely spot attracts a lot of tourists for its slightly cold and extremely pleasing weather making it a prominent location in Munnar.
