People built the Bhandasar Jain Temple in Bikaner in the 1400s, one of the oldest buildings there. It has mirror work, frescoes, and drawings of leaves on the walls. They used red rock to build the temple, which has three floors. If you go to the very top of this temple, you can see the city of Bikaner. People in the area say the walls of the temple leak when it's hot because they think people used 40,000 tons of ghee instead of mortar to build it.

What is the significance of Bhandasar Jain Temple?

Bhandasar Jain Temple in Bikaner, Rajasthan, is significant for its exquisite architectural design, intricate frescoes, and vibrant paintings. The temple is for Sumatinath, who was the fifth Jain Tirthankara. Its famous marble work and bright furnishings draw both devotees and art lovers. One of the most exciting places to visit in Bikaner is the Bhandasar Jain Temple.

What are the architectural features of the Temple?

The Bhandasar Jain Temple shows how grand the Rajputana building can be. They made the three-story temple from red rock, and it's best known for its wall paintings and usta art. People see the temple for its gold-leaf work and beautifully carved pillars. The shape of the temple's walls is like flowers. The tale of the 24 Jain Tirthankaras appears in stunning paintings hung on the temple's walls.

One of the most exciting things about the building is its mirror work. There is a statue of Lord Sumatinath made of white marble that can be found on the temple's ground floor. It is on a metal throne atop a two-foot-tall box. It has beautiful sculptures on the sandstone pillars on the ground floor of the building.

The first floor of the Bhandasar Jain Temple is empty. On the other hand, the second floor is a bit more complicated and has a shrine for statues of Jain gods. A lot of beautiful designs line the stairs on the first and second floors of the Jain temple. From these stairs, you can see Bikaner very well.

The second Jain Temple in Bikaner is the Sandeshwar Temple, next to the Bhandasar Jain Temple. The Temple is more significant than this one, but the doors and walls of this temple have beautiful carvings on them. The Lalgarh Palace and Museum must be seen as part of the Bikaner tour package.
