Located in the heart of Bikaner, Rajasthan, the Rampuria Group of Havelis symbolises all the finery of the ancient way of life and architectural genius. This group of nine havelis, constructed essentially from the warm hue of Dulmera sandstone, offers an exciting view and takes one many centuries back in time. Built under the patronage of the wealthy Rampuria family, these architectural masterpieces manifest an outstanding fusion of tradition and artistry. The Rampuria Group of Havelis is one of the best places to visit in Bikaner.

What is the architectural style of the Rampuria Group of Havelis?

Several stunning examples of the Shekhawati architectural style may be found in the Rampuria Havelis. It is famous for its minute carvings, ornate facades, and bright frescoes. Every inch of these Havelis is a symphony in stone, spread with exquisite craftsmanship. Each front has an example of intricate latticework (jaali), delicate jharokhas or balconies, and magnificent doorways that adorn to present a most graceful ensemble.

Its interiors are equally enchanting—open courtyards, luxuriant rooms, and beautifully chased pillars. Frescoes on the walls illustrate scenes from mythology, royal processions, and glimpses of contemporary life that showcase the rich cultural heritage of this region. Mirrors and glass work add to the beauty of the interiors by throwing back light and shadows.

A Symphony of Stone and Art

Not only are the Rampuria Havelis beautiful to look at, but they are also full of art and history. The Havelis are decorated with detailed carvings of animals, plants, and geometric shapes. Because of its beautiful designs, this Haveli is one of the places you must see on your Bikaner tour package.

The walls have some very colourful frescoes that have been done with expertise. It provides an excellent view into the lives of those who once inhabited these grand mansions.

These Havelis are a living testament to the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan today. Although some have found a new life as heritage hotels, others remain private residences that capture the aristocratic lifestyle.

This visit has been like turning back time, seeing the exquisite craftsmanship in the building, relishing it, and soaking in all the erstwhile times of Rajasthan.
