The planned city of Amaravati is on the banks of the River Krishna and is famous as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh. Amaravathi is also famous for having a Buddhist Stupa. It is a half-sphere-shaped building that holds Buddhist treasures and is popular as the Abode of God. Amaravati is one of the best places to visit near Vijayawada.

The city is planned to have 51% green areas because it is built on a 217 km riverfront. On October 22, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the first stone of the building. After the country was split into two states in 2014, Hyderabad was the central city of Telangana, the new state.

Because of this, Amaravathi was chosen to serve as the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The old city of the Satavahana kingdom is where the name "Amaravathi" comes from. Due to the many churches and shrines spread throughout this small town, pilgrims come here almost all year long.
