Architecture

A lot of people come to Vijayawada to see the Hill, which is the first Gandhi tribute in India and is on a hill. This monument to Gandhi, which stands 500 feet tall and has seven stupas, is in honour of the "Father of the Nation." The 52-foot-tall Gandhi stupa is the main draw here. It was opened by Dr. Zakir Hussain, who was President of India at the time, on October 6, 1968.

There is an observatory, the Gandhi Memorial Library, which has a good collection of books, and a Sound and Light show that shows the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The kids love taking the toy train up and down the hill. Also, the writings of Gandhi's lessons on stone slabs are really moving. One more thing that makes this place interesting is the wide view of Vijayawada city from the Hill.
