Tourists can find the five rock-cut shelters in the Mogalrajapuram Caves. At the moment, only one of them is in good shape. The temple here is also very popular, along with the caves. The caves are one of the best places to visit in Vijayawada.

The figure of Ardhanareeshwara is the only one of its kind in South India and is in the Mogalarajapuram temple. Other things to see here are the statues of Lord Nataraja and Vinayaka in one of the holes. People can see something interesting in these caves, even though they are in bad shape.

The sculptures in the Mogalarajapuram caves make them a must-see for tourists. The path to these caves takes you through a beautiful green area with stunning views. From the top of the hill, the view is truly mesmerizing. People who are in Vijayawada should not miss a trip to the Mogalarajapuram caves, which are important for both sculpture and archaeology. The skilled workers who made these carvings paid close attention to every detail, which is something to admire.

Mogalrajapuram Caves History

The Mogalarajapuram caves have been around since the seventh century. These caves are famous for the shelters they've cut into the rock, as well as their beautiful carvings and wall art. At this point, only one of the five caves is still in good shape. The time when Cave II was built is the subject of two different ideas.

According to one idea, the Vishnukundins dynasty of the sixth century may have dug up Cave II because the designs are simple but still interesting. Some people think that its roots go back to the Eastern Chalukya kingdom in the 7th century.

What is Moghalrajpuram Vijayawada famous for?

There are five groups of rock-cut cave temples in the Mogalrajapuram Caves. They are in different parts of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. They were built during the rule of the Eastern Chalukya or the Vishnukundins and were dedicated to Shiva. Most experts agree that they came into existence around the seventh century, after the Akkanna Madanna Caves. The Moghalrajpuram caves are a must-visit during the Vijayawada tour package.
