The unique experience

Touted as one of Kanyakumari’s cleanest beaches, the Sanguthurai Beach is a must to visit if you love the sunrise and set in the faraway horizon. The white sands of this beach particularly look striking to the eyes. On a visit here, you can also view the stunning Vivekananda Rock Memorial that lies just on the shoreline. Also, the mammoth conch perched near the tower looks eye-grabbing.

About Sanguthurai Beach

Positioned closely to Nagercoil, this 2004 tsunami-hit beach is a beach lover’s heaven where you will be left awestruck looking at the raw power of the mighty Indian Ocean. A conch is called ‘Sangu’, in Tamil, and hence the name Sanguthurai. Apart from the gorgeous coastline, the beach has a serene countryside as well that is fringed with coconut trees and vegetation washing the landscape with luxuriant green. The soft texture of the white sands makes walking and strolling pleasurable for all. Hence, when opting for tour packages in Kanyakumari, it is recommended to include a visit to this destination.

Legend

On any lucky day, you may spot a white toned pillar jutting out from the coast of the beach. According to locals, it dates back to the olden times of the Chola Empire. Along with the pillar, there is a black shaded conch that looks striking.

More about the place

Unlike other beaches in Kanyakumari, this beach is relatively quieter, though, on weekends it may get a little crowded. Taking dips and swimming here is perfect as its water is warmish as compared to others. Many first time travelers would find Sanguthurai Beach to be untouched to some extent as it’s pretty isolated. A few interesting features to be seen here are a kid’s play area, a few shops, and a few relaxation cottages with red rooftops. The kids can enjoy in the play area while for adults, there are these relaxation huts where they can chill out and take pictures of the surrounding panorama.

Sanguthurai Beach parasailing

This multi-colored sandy Kanyakumari beach is a water sports freak’s ideal destination as here, one can indulge in thrilling sports like parasailing. This water sport is conducted for five to ten minutes.

What else?

Mostly untamed, the beach looks secluded, and thus, you must visit it with family or friends. Since the tides are pretty rough, the authorities usually prohibit anyone from going in the water.

Listed as one of the most pristine places to visit in Kanyakumari, this beach is a blessing for nature lovers. Hence, don’t miss coming here!
