Nyay Mandir is a historical site in the Gujarat city of Vadodara. It is one of the heritage buildings in Baroda and one of the must-see places to visit in Vadodara, located near Sursagar Lake.

Nyay Mandir, which covers an area of 4 acres, was previously famous as Chimnabai Nyay Mandir. It contains a big central hall with a statue of Chimnabai and an Italian marble facade that cost around Rs. 7,00,000 to build. The staircase is composed of wood and has an old feel to it.

Pratapsinhrao Gaekwad, the last monarch of Baroda, delivered his final address from the building's balcony before submitting it to the Indian Union.

The High Court used it before independence, and the District Court of Vadodara has since utilized it. Still, the court complex has since been relocated to Diwalipura. The building is now being under construction to put it in good condition. The Nyay Mandir is worth visiting on the Vadodara tour package.

What is the history of Nyay Mandir?

The Nyay Mandir, which translates as "Temple of Justice," is an example of Byzantine architecture in India. Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III built it in 1896 in commemoration of his late wife, Maharani Chimnabai. Originally famous as the Maharani Chimnabai Market, it later became Town Hall and, finally, Court.

The exquisite statue of Maharani Chimnabai I put in the building at the time of its inauguration is certainly the structure's crowning achievement. The beautiful figure at the Nyay temple was handmade out of white Italian marble in 1890 by the legendary artisan Felici.

When did the Nyay temple start?

Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III built it in 1896 in commemoration of his late wife, Maharani Chimnabai. Robert Chisholm created the magnificent monument. He is also responsible for several other buildings in the city.
