Sayaji Baug Park is a public park in Vadodara, Gujarat. It is also famous as Kamati Baug. It is one of the most extensive public gardens in Western India and one of the best places to visit in Vadodara.

The park's main feature is the floral clock, located in the heart of the garden and the first of its sort in Gujarat. The clock's equipment is underneath; its hour, minute, and second hands move on a 20-foot-diameter dial.

Next to the planetarium is an astronomy park that displays old Indian astronomical instruments. The toy train is another main attraction of the park. Tourists are allowed to enjoy the ride of a toy train. The toy train has four coaches with 36 passenger seats in each. It runs along a 3.5-kilometre track with a track width of 10 inches.

Sayaji Baug has beautiful sculptures on pedestals. Beautiful, clean lawns and fountains are the best spots to sit and relax. Tourists can find approximately 98 tree species here. It is a park worth visiting during the Vadodara tour package.

History

Maharaja Sayajirao III built the Sayagi bagh in 1879 on the banks of the Vishwamitri river. The 113-acre garden includes:
•    A zoo.
•    The Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery.
•    The Museum of Health.
•    The Sardar Patel Planetarium.
•    A working toy train.

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation maintains the park and has three entrance gates, the main one being at Sayaji Square. It is also famous as 'Kala Ghoda Chowk' because of an equestrian statue.

The Sayaji Baug Zoo, located on both banks of the River Vishwamitri, first welcomed tourists in 1879. The Sayaji Baug Zoo, located in a natural setting, is home to 35 different species of mammals, including tigers, lions, panthers, and deer.

It also boasts 122 different varieties of colourful birds, such as the blue crown pigeon. The Sayaji Bagh also has ten different types of reptiles. 1962 the Sayaji Baug Zoo added an aquarium with 45 other fish species.

Why is Sayaji Baug called Kamauti Baug?

It was a gift by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1879 to the residents of his Baroda State. The Sayaji Bagh is also famous as Kamati Bagh because the spot was Kamathipura village before the park. The Kamathipura village is near the Vishwamitri River.
