Shri Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple is a 150-year-old Hindu temple in Kavi Kamboi, near Vadodara, Gujarat. The Mahadev temple is one of the best places to visit in Vadodara. The Mahadev temple is a popular tourist spot near Vadodara.

The best time to visit the temple is between 2 and 3 p.m., as high tide begins after that, and you cannot enter the temple. Purnima and Amavasya are the ideal times to visit the temple.

The tide times vary from Purnima to Amavasya. One can also check the temple's website to find out what time water approaches the temple on different days.

What is the story of Shri Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple?

According to folklore, Lord Kartikeya himself installed this Shiva Linga. Legend has it that Lord Kartikeya feels sorry for murdering the demon Tarakasura.

On Lord Vishnu's instruction, Kartikeya built Shiva Lingas in three locations and made prayers to stone for his sin of killing a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Stambeshwar Shiva Linga is one of the three locations.

Lord Shiva's jalabhishek occurs twice daily, in the morning and evening, as the sea passes through the location. Because of this one-of-a-kind phenomenon, millions of tourists visit the area yearly to witness nature's spectacular display. Another distinctive feature of the site is the confluence of the Mahi Sagar and the Sabarmati rivers.

What is unique about the Mahadev Temple?

The Stambheshwar Mahadev Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple's construction is modest and based on pillars. Still, it remains one of India's most intriguing must-see religious attractions. Pillars mainly support the temple, hence the name 'Stambeshwar Mahadev.'

The temple, also known as the Disappearing Shiva Temple, is remarkable because it submerges daily during high tide. Then, it emerges from the sea as the tide drops, revealing the 4-foot-tall Shiva Linga. The Shree Stambheshwar Mahadev temple is worth visiting during the Vadodara tour package.
