This place is famous in name as the “Valley of Gods” because it consists of a lot of temples. These temples reflect the rich cultural background of Himachal Pradesh. The Raghunath Ji Temple is a visible tribute to Lord Rama. He is also famous as the “Chief Deity” of Pahadi. It is among the attractive places to visit in Kullu. The temple is situated at an amazing altitude of 2056 mts.

There is a belief that The Raghunath Ji Temple had built in the year 1660 by Raja Jagat Singh indeed. And it is one of the oldest temples of Himachal Pradesh State. Raghunath Ji or Lord Rama is the Chief God of Kullu. This temple celebrates its annual celebration during Dussehra.

Raghunath Ji Temple history

It is said that the king, Raja Jagat Singh, who is said to have built this temple, once sent his troops to torture a Brahmin. That brahmin got a lot of pearls from some unknown sources. The king wanted to get those pearls by torturing him and his family.

Tired of all the torchers, the brahmin put his house on fire and killed himself with his entire family. The king felt the guilt that he did sin. To overcome his sin, he decided to build a temple and also placed the idol of Lord Rama. Raghunath Ji Temple is very famous among all the temples in Kullu.
