Chamunda Nandikeshwar Temple is a beautiful temple. location of this temple is on the banks of river Baner or it is also popular in name as river BanGanga. This temple is for worshipping to Goddess Chamunda, commonly known as Goddess Durga and a form of Goddess Kali. It is very rich in its cultural heritage indeed. It is one of the religious places to visit in McLeod Ganj.

Chamunda Nandikeshwar Temple History

This temple is among the frequently visited places in Himachal Pradesh. The history of the Chamunda Nandikeshwar Temple dates back to the 16th Century. It also has a Shivlingla and there is a belief that Shiva and Shakti, that is Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati reside in this temple.

Another deep faith is that Maa Durga got her “Chamunda” name after she killed the demons named Chanda and Munda. The temple has the sacred image of Goddess Durga. Also, there are some stones in one corner, which are believed to be the goddess’s Footmarks or footsteps. Navratri is the main festival of this temple and devotees gather here to offer prayers in large numbers.
