Lahesh Cave is basically a camping ground which is situated at a height of about 3500 meters above the sea level. It is a ground where the shepherds take their frock during the summers. Lashesh Cave trek is one of the popular enjoyable and adventurous spot here.
Lahesh Cave Trek
The trek is about 12 Km long from McLeod Ganj and 15 km from dharmashala to Lahesh Cave. It is among the adventurous places to visit in McLeod Ganj. Many trekkers call it as ” the heaven of McLeod Ganj”. The height of this trek is 3475 meters from sea level.
The trek starts either from McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot, which is 2 Km away from McLeod Ganj. The 10 Kms trek from Dharamkot passes through Triund and Galu Devi Temple. Triund is the base camp for the trekkers who wish to trek further till Lahesh Cave.
The trek route has some small snack shops as well. Here, trekkers can rest a bit and also have tea and snacks and water also. Visitors say that local pople around here are so helpful and kind also.
Illaqa
2 Kms further climbing from Triund, the trekkers will reach Illaqa or Laka as the locals say. Laka is the place where the small shepherd camp is located. The path is not plain.
It’s treacherous and uneven. Illaqa is a plain stretched land located in the Moon mountain peaks. It divides two valleys; Kangra Valley and Chamba Valley. In the month of May to September, The best time ever to explore this place indeed.
Illaqa is situated on a small glacier These glaciers are covered by Snow-covered mountains. The trekkers can take rest during the night at the place it is a perfect spot to put up their tents and spend the night time. There are small shops where trekkers can buy edibles, water, and other needful. The trekkers can continue their treks further the next morning.
