The location of Norbulingka Institute or Norbulingka Monastery is around 7 Km from Dharamshala. It is nestled in the feet of the Dhauladhar ranges. And It had established to save Tibetian culture, their writings, and craftsmanship in the year 1988. It is among the interesting places to visit in McLeod Ganj.

Norbulingka Institute had founded by Kim Yeshi and Kelsang in Sidhpur in the year 1955. The Monastery named after the summer residence of the Dalai Lama, Norbulingka. The location is in the beauty of greenery and Lakes. It’s a clean and peaceful place.

Also, this institution teaches the students to produce new artifacts, art forms, and handicrafts in a traditional way. The tools used by the people here seem very ancient. Besides that raditionally crafted art objects, clothes, and home furniture have produced here in high and good quality.

It is another Monastery and it was by the Dalai Lama. That has been designed in a Tibetian style. The workshop is quite spacious. The place is very calm and quiet which provides a peaceful environment for the visitors indeed. Norbulingka Monastery should include the DHARAMSHALA TOUR PACKAGE without any doubt.

Norbulingka Institute aims for the preservation of Tibetian Culture in the form of literature and art. Basically, it had established to support the Tibetian community. It aims to flourish the Tibetian culture and creates an international awareness.

Norbulingka Monastery Timing

Visitors can visit every day from 9:00 am in the morning to 5:30 pm in the evening. Every day except Sunday, they will get a free guide also.

In the Norbulingka´s Art Studio, many artifacts have added amazingly. From numerous crafts including applique and painting and tailoring, wood paints and wood carvings, papermaking and wood, and metal craft, statue making, and so on.

The institute also has a temple w is two-storied. The name of the temple is ¨Seat of Happiness Temple¨. It was about 1985. There is also a doll museum that displays the traditional scenes of Tibet.
