About Chowara Beach

Positioned merely 10 km from Kovalam, this beach is a delightful spot for relaxing and is definitely regarded as one of the best places to visit in Trivandrum. There is a small fishing hamlet very close to the beach. But, you may have to find it as it remains hidden, thanks to the thick blanket of coconut trees that cover it. The fishing community works on the beach and therefore, you can always see local fishermen going about their daily chores. Also present are a church as well as a temple that is situated on the hilltop. Visitors can reach the temple and enjoy a panoramic view of the whole beach-line from atop the hill. Chowara Temple Trivandrum

Devotees of Lord Ayyappa make a rush to the hilltop temple during the festival that lasts for 56 days every year. It happens every year from 15th November and lasts till 15th January. One must travel to Kovalamduring this time to see the cacophony of pilgrims that delights the senses. 

Shiva Trivandrum temple

A Shiva Temple also attracts quite a large chunk of devotees. It is a hilltop temple known as Pulikudi Azhimala Temple and is frequented by devotees and nature lovers alike. The terrain surrounding the temple looks picture perfect. 

Chowara Church

The church of AnalothbhavaMatha is also located on the side of the beach, and is thronged for mass by locals. It is an ancient church.
