Chamunda Mata temple is situated at the southern end of the Mehrangarh fort. The temple is devoted to Devi Chamunda Mataji. The idol of Chamunda Mataji was brought to the fort in 1460 by Rao Jodha. The idol was first planted in Mandore but soon it was relocated to Mehrangarh fort. The royal families still consider Chamunda Mataji to be their 'isht devi' (adopted goddess of their family) but Chamunda Mataji is even worshipped by the locals. Every year there are numerous devotees who visit Chamunda Mata Temple and offer their prayers.
