In Mussoorie, the Christ Church is 0.6 km from the Library Bus Stand. Throughout the entire Himalayan region, it is among the earliest Catholic churches. Perched on a tiny slope just above Kasmanda Palace in Mussoorie, it is situated. It is one of the most visited places to visit in Mussoorie

History of Christ Church

With its glimpse into the life of Jesus Christ and the times when the British were enslaving India, the Christ Church recalls memories of the British Era in India. Private donations built the massive Christ Church, which is available to British residents. On November 29, 1970, the Christ Church was formally admitted as a part of the Church of North India.

The British community, who called Mussoorie home in 1836, constructed the Church. The architecture of the Christ Church is incredibly striking and intriguing. You will discover exquisite gothic-style architecture with windows made of stained glass that depict events from Jesus' life. You may observe that the high altar represents the sufferings that Jesus Christ endured during his life.

The windows' pre-Raphaelite design was a gift from the British to India. The Church's walls and windows are visually arresting and captivating. The Church has more historical value because of the century-old William Hill organ that stands in for bygone eras.

The Princess of Wales, who subsequently became Queen Mary of England, once visited the Christ Church. She saw the chapel and planted a deodar tree in its courtyard during her 1906 trip to Mussoorie. Even now, the deodar tree in the church courtyard is still sturdy.

The best time to visit

October through May is the ideal season to see the Church during the MUSSOORIE TOUR PACKAGE. Some claim that November through February is the perfect time to visit. Some advise going on a Sunday so you can go to mass. Christmas is the most popular time of year to visit the Church if you are visiting during the winter.
