Located about 6 km from Mussoorie at the summit of Depot Hill in Landour lies a well-known viewpoint called Lal Tibba. Reaching 2,275 meters (7,164 feet) in elevation, Lal Tibba offers stunning vistas of Kedarnath Peak and Nilkantha Peak near Badrinath. It also offers views of the Bandarpoonch series of three peaks, the highest of which is 6,316 meters.

It has a lengthy history as a military rehabilitation center and a summer retreat for British Raj occupants. The Lal Tibba area has gained prominence as a hill station for cantonments. Currently, the Indian Military Services occupy it. Lal Tibba, a tiny terrace, offers stunning views of the Tibet border. It's a peaceful location with remnants of British architecture.

What is Lal Tibba famous for?

The highest and most picturesque spot to see the valley on one side and the snow-capped Himalayan range on a clear day is Lal Tibba. During the British era, this was also the location of the military cantonment. Here is where you may take the best possible pictures. Additionally, there is a cafe for leisure. It is a well-liked location for sunrises and sunsets among the places to visit in Mussoorie

Activities to do

  •   Lal Tibba offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayan ranges. It includes the peaks of Badrinath, Kedarnath, and Bandarpoonch, all above 6000 meters.
  •   From the area around Landour's well-known viewing café, Char Dukan, one can plainly see a snow-white line of ranges.
  •   Standing twenty feet tall on a cliff, a telescope built by the Japanese government is available. It offers views of the Swargarohini and Chaukhamba masses on a clear day. At 7,816 meters, Nanda Devi is the second-highest mountain in the nation, and you might even be able to see it!
  •   There are a few breathtaking climbs in the area that you may do, such as the short hike up Deo Tibba (7,690 feet) from Tehri Road and Pepperpot Mountain.

The best time to visit

Lal Tibba is reachable all year round. Every season has a certain allure and beauty. You can hike here in different seasons, depending on your interests. Avoid the trail during the height of the rain, though, since it gets quite slippery and steep. It is a place that offers breathtaking vistas and an unforgettable experience that your Mussoorie tour package must include.
