The happy valley reserves itself in Mussoorie for its culture.  It is one of the most liked destinations among the places to visit in Mussoorie. It includes gardens, estates and temples. The primary reason for its popularity is the IAS academy, municipal garden and Tibetan temples. The Buddhist temple continues with the legacy of the Buddhist culture in Mussoorie. Happy Valley History 

The happy valley is home to Tibetan monastery, since the 14th Dalai Lama took shelter in Mussoorie in 1959. Since then, this location has served as the home of about 5000 refugees. It has become a well-known Mussoorie tourist attraction. Since the Tibetan government-in-exile relocated to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. Later, the Dalai Lama left behind a sizable community in Mussoorie, the joyful valley that existed here. 

After the Dalai Lama’s shelter, Mussoorie has become popular with the Buddhist community and also offers teachings of Buddha. Later, the Tibetan left their culture in Mussoorie, got an establishment and made the Buddhist temple. 

The Tibetan refugees have always been welcomed by the Indians and received warm welcoming. Indians also provided them with a Tibetan school in 1960. The school is in the happy valley and has huge respect from the locals. 

The Shedup Choephelling temple was built by the Dalai Lama. It is India’s first Tibetan temple and a very popular sacred destination in Mussoorie. The temple includes prayer wheels, meditation hall, idols and paintings of Buddha. Tourists can also have a glimpse of the Benog Hill circuit from the temple. 

Best time to visit
