Secluded and serene, George Everest House is one of the main places to visit in Mussoorie. It is located approximately 6 miles from Gandhi Chowk. It provides expansive vistas of the Doon Valley and breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

The Park Estate, also famous as Sir George Everest's House and Laboratory, built in 1832. The George Everest House and George Everest Peak are well-known destinations for adventure trips, picnics, and camping these days. Its proximity to Dehradun and Mussoorie is contributing to its growing popularity.

From 1830 until 1843, Sir George Everest served as India's Surveyor-General. He led the Great Trigonometrical Survey and was responsible for the first-ever observation of Mount Everest. His iconic house, located in Mussoorie, offers stunning views of the Doon valley and Aglar river.

The Uttarakhand government recognized the importance of Sir George's heritage bungalow in 2020. It was renovated to become a cartography museum, showcasing his surveying instruments.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in MUSSOORIE TOUR PACKAGE is the George Everest summit.  You will pass through areas of woodland on the hike that are home to rhododendron, deodar, and fir trees. A birder's treasure, that is. From the top, it provides stunning views of mountains covered with snow.

The hike to the George Everest Peak is simple. Both seasoned hikers and fit beginners can complete it. The last part of the hike is difficult, though. Prior to starting the walk, make sure you are adequately prepared.

Flora and Fauna

Without a question, the George Everest Trek is a biodiversity treasure trove. The path from Hathipaon Chowk to George Everest's home is lined with rhododendron plants on both sides. Tourists can see numerous species of babblers, tree eaters, and warblers, as well as Himalayan Griffon Vultures, throughout the year. If you're lucky, you might also spot stunning Black-headed Jays in the adjacent forests, singing and feeding.

How long is the trek to George Everest's House?

George Everest Peak Trek: From Sir George Everest House, it's only a 500-meter uphill climb. The ascent takes approximately thirty minutes, and the path is simple. From there, the vistas are breathtaking.

Best season for George Everest's House

September to early November and March to May are the ideal times to hike to the top of George Everest. The hike route becomes impassable during monsoon season due to excessive rains and during peak winter due to snowfall.
