Beas River History
Beas river was the river that created problems for Alexander the Great during his invitations of India. His troops mutinied here and refused to go any further. Poor Alexander shut himself in his own tent for three days. He had to give up when his men didn’t change their minds. He raised 12 colossal altars to mark the limits and glory of his expenditure.
Later, in the 20th century, the river had developed for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation purposes.
