Rohtang Pass Permit
To prevent pollution on the Rohtang Pass, the Himachal Pradesh State Government issued a permit to limit the vehicle. This permit is applicable for every vehicle passing from this route and it is on a daily basis.
This pass permits 800 petrol vehicles and 400 diesel vehicles every day. Also, 100 passes provided to the vehicles with private numbers, 60 petrol and 40 diesel vehicles. The pass is applicable for 1 day only, to and fro for the tourists.
To go through the Rohtang Pass, some documents such as valid ID proof, valid pollution under check, certificate and vehicle registration date are mandatory. This permit can be taken through the official website.

Rohtang Pass Tunnel
This tunnel is also called Atal Tunnel. The name is actually tribute for India’s former Prime Minister “Atal Bihari Vajpayee”. With 8.8 km length, it is one of the longest tunnels in India.
This tunnel is at a height of 3,100 meters. The Atal Tunnel is slightly west of the Rohtang Pass and not exactly under it. The tunnel is completed and now ready to open. It will be opened in June 2020.
